The past couple of weeks in my technology class, we've been trying out Photoshop and learning about it. I've done Photoshop before last year, so I knew a lot of the basics. This includes most of the tools on the left side of the program. Some examples include the cropping tool, selection tool, and the paint brush tool. I also knew how to control the background and foreground tools.
One major thing that I think I learned is how to take an object out of an image. I did this with the patch tool and the spot healing tool. It was actually pretty simple, and I learned that the spot healing tool is for smaller objects and the patch tool is mostly used for bigger objects. I learned how to use the blur effect, and how to center to a point, and then the perimeter would blur. I've made an image into words before, but I forgot how to do it, so I was able to relearn that and add depth to the letters.
I didn't run in with many problems, but with the blur effect, I was really confused on how it worked. I kept trying different things, but it didn't look right. I fixed this by stopping what I was doing and really look at the tutorial. I tried again, and I got the picture how I wanted it to look. On one of the images, I was trying to remove an object that was blocking the light. I removed it, but then it looked really awkward. So, I kept using the patch tool on that area to get it just right, and soon I got it to look as natural as I could get it.
I edited a picture from a Demi Lovato concert I went to. This picture had lots of bright colors, so I wanted to make a contrast in the image more, and bring out the colors more. While doing this, I was also trying to distract from the blurriness of the image. I had a picture of me on a boat, and I decided to blur everything except myself. I thought this was just a way for the photo to look more "artsy." I took an image of a lake that I took, and put it into the words "relax". I did this because I really liked the lake image, and I thought it would look cool inside a word that relates to that image. Finally, I took a picture of a beach, made it black and white, and made it so the only thing colored was the ocean. I did this because this picture was pretty great already, and the color of the ocean was so beautiful, so I wanted that to really stick out.
My family and I really love photography, and I think I can use my skills to take our pictures to the next level. I can take pictures whenever we go on vacation, or when we're just having a random photoshoot, and then put them into photoshop to make them look professional.
